It is home to the largest commercial goat herd in Africa. The milk from approximately 750 does, along with the milk from an exclusive Jersey cow herd pass through the Vineyard cheesery each day. There are over twenty permanent lines in the Fairview cheese range.
As one of the most popular attractions in the Western Cape winelands area, the Fairview Wine and Cheese estate offers tasting of it’s complete range of cheeses and wines in their special tasting room, any day of the week.
What makes the Fairview farm unique is that it is famous for its combination of cheese and wine production and is popular amongst the locals and the international tourists. The owner, Charles Back, also owns The Goats do Roam Wine Company and The Spice Route Winery.
The Goatshed, an indoor/outdoor Mediterranean style restaurant is known for it’s entertaining series of themed evenings, is a venue not to be missed!
The Goat Tower, with its humourous undertones, has also become a landmark in the area as well as being featured on Fairview’s wine labels.
